Gimbal - Gadget everybody's talking about
Noticed something in the video above?
No! Not the cool skateboarding but notice how stable the video is. It is being shot by using an accessory called “Gimbal” stabilizer.
How does it work?
It uses three axes of rotation and keeps the camera steady using internal motors. It uses algorithms for unintended camera motions and also to detect when the camera has been moved intentionally. It was majorly used in the Movie productions which were Mechanical and the devices were bulky and needed special expertise from the person handling it. But now we have one handheld Gimbal stabilizers as well in the market.
They can be used for just about everything! Whether you are a vlogger, shooting your child playing or producing the content for your social media account. A gimbal can definitely improve the quality of the video.
Most Gimbals are either 2-axis or 3-axis. As you must have guessed 3-axis are superior. A 2-axis gimbal can handle the movements of the camera forward and backward or side by side. So basically handles only the x-axis.
The 3-axis gimal can handle the y-axis as well but obviously there are some cons as well. Since it handles x and y axis both, it weighs more than the 2-axis gumble.
